Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Professional to join our team at West Virginia University Medical Corporation dba University Health Associates. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our medical staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Manage comprehensive and individualized care for surgical patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization and immediate post-discharge in the ambulatory setting.
  • Complete daily rounds, consults, and pre-procedure/surgical evaluations.
  • Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Consult and communicate with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in patient evaluations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive individualized plans of care for surgical patients, including teaching, discharge planning, and necessary referrals to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Participate in physician rounds and consultations, and identify unstable or complex surgical patient care situations and facilitate appropriate intervention in the clinic and/or hospital setting.
  • Collaborate with other leaders and staff to effectively achieve patient outcome-based improvements in care.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of changes in surgical practice that positively impact patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with medical and nursing staff to facilitate creative problem-solving and provide professional support.
  • Participate in inter-disciplinary approaches to patient care, program development, and education, and serve as a professional role model.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
  • Acute care, surgical, critical care, or trauma experience preferred.
  • Eligible new graduates will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACNP or FNP considered.
  • Master's level degree as Physician Assistant preferred.
