About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join our team at Liberty Mutual. As a key member of our legal team, you'll represent our company and policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation and workers' compensation matters. Your expertise will be essential in managing the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery to trial preparation and court proceedings. You'll work closely with claims representatives and insured clients to develop effective legal strategies and negotiate settlements as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery to trial preparation and court proceedings
• Represent clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and negotiate settlements as required
• Develop and share legal strategies with claims representatives and insured clients
• Establish and maintain good relationships with claims representatives and insured clients
• Conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments as needed

Requirements

• Membership in the Ohio Bar
• Appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts preferred
• A minimum of one year of experience as an attorney
• Strong working relationships with internal and external partners
• Detailed, analytical thinking and a process-oriented mindset
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law and related fields
• Proficiency with technologies that reduce costs and facilitate the practice of law and remote work
