Phlebotomy Specialist

As a Phlebotomy Specialist at Trinity Health, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that focuses on treating the whole person, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Your primary responsibility will be to perform laboratory phlebotomy procedures, including obtaining registration information from patients and patient signatures as outlined according to procedure.

You will also be responsible for explaining health care policies and procedures to patients, obtaining and interpreting physician orders and diagnoses, and performing clerical functions related to ordering of ancillary services. Additionally, you will maintain inventory and order supplies, reconcile billing on AS400, and work with Warde send outs, including follow-up with procedures and Warde billing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and capillary puncture
• Obtain registration information from patients and patient signatures
• Explain health care policies and procedures to patients
• Obtain and interpret physician orders and diagnoses
• Perform clerical functions related to ordering of ancillary services
• Maintain inventory and order supplies
• Reconcile billing on AS400
• Work with Warde send outs, including follow-up with procedures and Warde billing

Requirements:

• High school graduate required
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Phlebotomy experience preferred

Working Conditions:

The department operation provides 24-hour coverage, 365 days per year, which may require working a variety of shifts and days of the week. You must be able to be reached at home by telephone and have a valid driver's license.
