About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Wellpath. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality medical care to incarcerated patients, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds to assess patient needs
  • Maintain accurate and legible progress notes in SOAP format, adhering to formulary guidelines
  • Respond to emergencies and make informed decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals
  • Support existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals
  • Maintain confidentiality and provide input into facility committees as requested
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a corrections environment and maintain patience and tact when dealing with inmate patients
  • Scheduling flexibility to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment and current CPR certification
