Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at Microsoft. As a key member of our Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will play a critical role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the availability, data quality, and security of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in our data centers.
- Manage and govern ICS programs and projects, ensuring global initiatives are executed effectively.
- Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and governance of Microsoft's electrical and mechanical ICS systems in our 24x7x365 mission-critical data centers.
- Ensure logical and physical access, approval, and permissions for all ICS systems, networks, workstations, and servers.
- Empower a culture of safety and security in global data center operations by complying with CO+I's safety programs and policies.
- Develop positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering.
- Ability to meet Microsoft's security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or applicable field experience in Critical Environments, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical.
- 3+ years of experience in an operational, mission-critical, 24x7x365 facility.
- 1.5+ years of experience in the design and/or commissioning of Industrial Controls Systems (ICS) in data center critical environments.
- 2+ years of experience with the operation and maintenance of building electrical systems and mechanical systems.
- Project management experience with a focus on agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects.
