Bench Mechanic, Weekend Shift

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Bench Mechanic on the Weekend Shift at Pratt & Whitney. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing pre-coating operations, surface preparation, and masking duties. You will also perform post-coating tasks, including removing parts from fixtures, removing masking, troubleshooting, and diagnosing malfunctioning equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform deburring, blending, polishing, countersinking, grinding, drilling, or grit blast operations using hand and power tools and equipment on aerospace engine components.
- Perform Total Preventive Maintenance on applicable machines/equipment as required.
- Check parts to meet visual and dimensional requirements using various measuring equipment/tools, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and other fixed gauges.
- Assure completed parts meet quality requirements.
- Work from oral and written instructions to remove burrs, nicks, and scratches on parts.
- Assist engineers and others in developing new or changed operations.
- Make recommendations for changing and improving operating parameters and processes.
- Refer any difficulties to leader or supervisor.
- 0-1 years of related experience, or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 0-1+ years related experience.
- High School or GED.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Experience with metal finishing methods, spray coating/paint application, machining, grinding, and/or welding.
- Experience with computerized machine operation.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments, such as feeler gauges, verniers, calipers, and micrometers.
- Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions concerning work methods and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills.
- Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
