Job Description

As a key member of our Sonic Automotive team, this role is responsible for accurately assessing vehicle damage to determine the cost of repair for insurance claim settlement.

  • Conduct thorough examinations of damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
  • Estimate the cost of labor and parts required to repair or replace each damaged item, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with body shop managers or foremen to review and finalize repair cost estimates.
  • In cases of disagreement, arrange for an external appraiser to evaluate the damage and provide a resolution.
  • Determine the feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
  • Evaluate the practicality of repair compared to payment of vehicle market value before the accident.
  • Determine the salvage value on total vehicle loss.
  • Prepare insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
  • Estimate the cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report any accidents or incidents to management.
Qualifications
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Must perform duties in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver's license.
