About the Job

This role is an exciting opportunity to work as a Data Center Technician at TEKsystems, where you will be responsible for installing and decommissioning network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.

The ideal candidate should have a broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies and be able to read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.

  • Installation/decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.">
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.">
  • Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.">
  • Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain data center cleanliness.">
  • Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.">
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.">
  • Broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies.">

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • ">
  • A clear understanding of job safety requirements.">
  • The ability to read and understand floor plans.">
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing.">
  • The ability to pull all types of low-voltage cable.">
  • The ability to perform field terminations and labeling.">
  • Capability of maintaining orderly paperwork and running service jobs.">
  • The ability to layout MDF and IDF closets and dress all types of cable.">
  • Capability of working in data centers.">
  • The ability to install ladder racking and seismic bracing both above and under the raised floor.">
  • A basic understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.">
  • The ability to dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing.">
  • Maintaining orderly paperwork and running service.">
  • Fusion splice including ribbon/ single OSP/ISP.">
  • The ability to install, connect, and decom network equipment.">
  • Operation of DSX 5000 tester/OTDR tester.">
  • Programming testers.">
  • Differentiation of live cables from decom cable.">
  • Copper testing and troubleshooting.">
  • Conducting service swaps of live networking devices.">
  • Understanding of FIM database and operation of scanners.">
