Job Title: Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of our academic health system.

Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide primary health care to patients, focusing on geriatrics. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing, current NJ state license, and NP Certification. Three to five years of work experience as a professional nurse is required.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications, start IVs
  • Assist physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders
  • Assist with various counseling and education functions
  • Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations
  • Demonstrate satisfactory knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients
  • Develop plans of care for patients in coordination with the multidisciplinary team and complete appropriate reports to physicians and family
  • Document and maintain patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards
  • Establish a collaborative relationship with other medical providers
  • Examine patients to determine the presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, and ascertain the nature and extent of illness and prescribe treatments as indicated
  • Interview, instruct, and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention
  • Issue prescriptions to patients based on Federal and State Regulations
  • Order and review appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
  • Participate in the development of protocols
  • Perform and obtain a completed medical history and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations
  • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
  • Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant for policies such as HIPAA, OSHA, Code of Conduct
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice
  • Reviews and audits charts routinely
  • Suture wounds, incise and drain wounds, repair lacerations
  • Work in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing required
  • Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license; CDS and DEA
  • CPR certification
  • NP Certification
  • Three to five years of work experience as a professional nurse
