Job Title: Environmental Program Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Program Coordinator to join our team at the City of Portland. As an Environmental Program Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) in implementing environmental protection laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and interpret environmental protection laws and regulations to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure bureau compliance with environmental protection laws and regulations.
  • Support the Enforcement Program Manager in coordinating enforcement efforts and providing guidance and project support to individual programs.
  • Ensure accurate application of regulations for the Division's enforcement actions by implementing effective courses of action.
  • Support equitable program practices for underserved communities.
  • Provide administrative support for the public appeals process.
  • Develop and conduct enforcement staff trainings.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in natural resource management, environmental science, ecology, or an equivalent degree.
  • Experience interpreting, writing, explaining, or enforcing local, state, or federal environmental regulations.
  • Experience with administrative principles and methods such as goal setting, strategic planning, project management, or program development and implementation.
  • Experience across a variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, standard and custom databases, and other office software.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, and interpret data and clearly present information.
