Pediatric Nursing Innovation Specialist

Children's Health (Dallas) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Innovation Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in nursing innovation, leadership, and collaboration.
Job Summary:
The Nursing Innovation Specialist will provide strategic and operational leadership to cultivate networks and partnerships across the system to foster nurse empowerment in nursing innovation. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, enhancing, and maintaining a comprehensive pediatric nursing innovation program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Nursing Excellence leadership to develop infrastructure to support innovation among clinical nurses at the enterprise level.
- Contribute to the enhancement, revision, and maintenance of a comprehensive, vital, and futuristic pediatric nursing innovation program by providing leadership, creative and collaborative networking strategies, and design thinking to nursing practice.
- Cultivate and encourage a culture of inquiry by questioning or evaluating current practice to improve nursing practice, care delivery models, and/or patient outcomes through innovation.
- Demonstrate experience and ability to manage projects by conducting and facilitating evidence-based practice, quality/process improvement, innovation, and dissemination of projects (publications, conferences).
- Act as a change agent and align nursing and clinical teams on new ideas/ways of working to advance nursing practice.
- Lead the design and implementation of innovative nursing care delivery systems in conjunction with colleagues throughout the nursing service. This includes innovation sites and care delivery systems for new sites.
- Provide leadership in the development, oversight, and implementation of innovative new products and services.
- Serve as a consultant to nurses and other staff within Nursing Services for nursing innovation project design, approval processes, data collection and analysis, and dissemination.
- Enable, encourage, and mentor nursing and other staff to address nursing practice, patient satisfaction, and/or patient care problems through application of nursing innovation.
- Demonstrate and facilitate the development of nursing innovation projects in pediatric nursing by applying outcomes to practice and commitment to promotion exemplary patient and family-centered care and an interactive, dynamic multidisciplinary learning climate.
- Utilize translational research modalities to bridge the gap between research, innovation, and practice.
- Oversee nursing innovation educational/fellowship opportunities and collaboratives for the organization.
- Collaborate with clinical nurse specialists and nursing leaders to review current practice and literature to enhance nursing staff's knowledge, competencies, and confidence to utilize nursing innovation for current evaluation of nursing practice and future planning.
- Promote and maintain internal collaborative partnerships between Nursing Services, information technology, informatics, clinical operations, finance, legal, compliance, and other departments as necessary to identify new product opportunities and appropriate operations support.
- Establish and execute external partnerships/affiliations with Schools of Nursing and other academic units and vendors/industry partners.
- Develop and measure programmatic outcomes to derive insights and plans to improve and scale innovations.
- Participate in the quarterly and annual evaluation plan including outcomes achieved the prior year (includes impact on practice, publication productivity, national presentations, grants obtained, etc.) to determine impact factors.
- Promote the image of pediatric nursing at Children's Health locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Mentor DNP and PhD student projects as appropriate.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years clinical experience or clinical teaching experience required.
- At least 2 years clinical data analytics, nursing informatics, or nursing innovation experience required.
- At least 3 years experience publishing and/or presenting innovation, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, process improvement, and/or research results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and national conferences preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
- Master of Science in Nursing or Healthcare innovation or Informatics or Masters in Healthcare Administration (or equivalent degree) required.
- Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD required within 4 years of job acceptance.
- Nursing innovation and/or applicable nursing informatics/technology-based fellowship or comprehensive training preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas (or current valid Compact RN license) Upon Hire required.
- American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) recognized certification within 1 year after hire required.
