Job Summary:
S&ME, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Supervisor to join our Construction Services team in Asheville, North Carolina. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing daily lab activities and projects, ensuring the quality and safety of laboratory operations within a geographic or technical service area. This role involves scheduling assignments, maintaining equipment, coordinating training and certifications, and supporting business development efforts.

About the Role:
This full-time position offers competitive pay based on experience, with an estimated annual salary of $65,000 - $85,000. You will be responsible for managing lab personnel, overseeing project management, field work, scheduling and coordination, training and certification, quality and safety, and client and business development. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or other closely related technical field, as well as 2+ years combined experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing and a supervisory, management, or leadership role. Proficiency with computer technology and mechanical testing equipment is also required.

Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Direct and oversee lab staff in testing, equipment maintenance, calibrations, and daily operations
- Project Management: Manage dynamic Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects of varying scales, providing technical expertise, and overseeing every phase, including proposal development, budgeting, scheduling, report delivery, and project deadlines
- Field Work: Coordination of field explorations, field logging of soil samples, performing engineering calculations/design, preparation of proposals and reports, and project and client support
- Scheduling & Coordination: Manage staff schedules and collaborate with Field Supervisors and Project Managers on project progress
- Training & Certification: Train employees on lab processes and ensure staff maintain certifications for technical development
- Quality & Safety: Lead safety efforts, maintain equipment standards, and uphold quality protocols per AASHTO requirements
- Client & Business Development: Support client pursuits through proposal preparation, cross-selling services, and maintaining a positive company image
