About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Early Intervention Specialist to join our team at the City of Alexandria, VA. As an Early Intervention Specialist, you will play a critical role in coordinating services for families with children under the age of three who require early intervention support.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities, as well as their families. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess the needs of each child and develop individualized service plans to ensure they receive the necessary support to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for families in the Part C system
  • Actively monitor and coordinate early intervention services through virtual or in-person meetings and telephone conferences with family and other team members
  • Provide continuous review of child's progress toward established outcomes through regular review of progress shared during team discussions, written summaries, and direct on-site observations of child and family
  • Maintain telephone or in-person contacts with each family at least monthly to ensure children are receiving services according to the IFSP and assist families in addressing issues concerning their child and their satisfaction with their assigned service provider(s)
  • Provide information to families on future placements and other matters related to the child's transition
  • Adhere to federal timelines regarding timely assessment and evaluation, delivery of services and Part B transition
  • Ensure that required procedural safeguards are implemented and fully explained to families within federally required guidelines
  • Ensure a racial equity lens is utilized during all early intervention services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in allied health, child and family studies, early childhood, human development, psychology, public health, nursing, counseling, social work, special education or other related field approved by the Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia and certified as an Early Intervention Professional or, Early Intervention Specialist, or Early Intervention Case Manager, or eligible to obtain certification within 30 days of employment offer
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, education, psychology or other related allied health/ human service field
  • Infant Mental Health certification, endorsement, or waiver
  • Certification/registration or licensure as a Social Worker, Family Therapist, Counselor, Assistant Behavior Analyst, Behavior Analyst, Educator, Allied Health Services Therapist or Psychologist
  • At least two years in the infant, early childhood, and family mental health field OR two years post-master's clinical experience
  • At least one year of case management experience
  • At least one year of multidisciplinary team experience
  • Fluent and Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/ Amharic or English/ Arabic or other locally prevalent languages needed by the program

Salary Range: $59,739.42 - $80,023.32 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
