Job Summary

Michigan Technological University seeks a highly skilled Electrical Systems Administrator to oversee the campus electrical power distribution system, ensuring compliance with NEC and MIOSHA regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with in-house personnel and outside consultants to coordinate projects, changes, and expansions of the system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the campus electrical power distribution system, including high voltage and medium voltage around the campus and low voltage inside buildings.
  • Verify compliance with system safety requirements per NEC and MIOSHA; work with outside consultants as necessary to determine requirements.
  • Coordinate changes to the overall campus electrical system as necessary due to various construction and/or renovation projects.
  • Work with the Director of Planning & Construction Services, the Director of Energy Management, the Director of Sustainability, and others on campus to develop and implement long-term plans to make our campus electrical system more sustainable and efficient.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Licensed PE in Michigan or another State in the United States.
  • Five years or more of experience in the design and construction of electrical systems involving new buildings, renovations, and system upgrades.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design and construction of high voltage electrical distribution systems for campus or municipal electrical systems.
  • Design and/or construction of alternate energy systems such as solar or wind power.
  • Experience working in Facilities Management for a higher education institution.
