Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment at a recycling facility, landfill, or transfer station. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and maintenance, as well as a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials and take corrective action as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and lubricating parts, and reporting any necessary repairs to supervisors.
  • Complete equipment condition reports and other documentation as required.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
Requirements
  • Two years of prior experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
  • Good customer service skills and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
