Job Summary

This position provides culturally responsive alcohol and drug treatment for adolescent African American youth aged 12-18. The Recovery Mentor will offer case management services, including referral linkage, individual counseling, family support, group counseling, and case management, to assist clients in successful engagement in treatment and family support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement service plans for clients, including service reporting plans.
  • Assist families in implementing plans and maintain regular communication with clients' primary therapists, collateral providers, and community corrections staff.
  • Link clients to needed services within the community.
  • Meet with community partners to update them on LifeWorks NW services.
  • Provide services in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Travel between sites or in the community to drive clients when needed.
Requirements
  • Must demonstrate competence working with the African American community.
  • Requires access to a car and valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Current Recovery Mentor Certification and Traditional Health Worker number from the Office of Equity and Inclusion.
  • Substantial experience with addiction issues, including language, values, norms, and attributes of the subculture.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including keyboarding, mouse use, and website navigation.
