Job Summary

As a Nursing Apprentice I at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. You will work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as you will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and report patient data to nursing personnel in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the implementation of a patient care plan according to individual needs.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary care conferences and discharge planning as necessary.
  • Utilize the nursing process and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan.
  • Administer medications using the 5 rights: right medication, right dose, right route, right patient, and right time.
  • Be knowledgeable of medication action and possible side effects. Administer therapies and treatments as ordered by physicians and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform more complex treatments and assume responsibilities according to state licensure, regulations, and certifications, based on experience and training.
  • Apply principles of pain management and participate in patient education programs.
  • Prepare necessary equipment, supplies, or instruments and assist with procedures, treatments, or examinations as required.
  • Maintain floor stock and cleanliness of the unit and patient rooms.
  • Perform all assigned duties and responsibilities in compliance with Standards of Care, Standards of Practice, and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Respond effectively in emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Attending school for Practical Nurse Certificate.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
  • Must be accepted into an approved apprenticeship program.
  • Must be on the ND Board of Nursing UAP registry and ND Department of Health CNA registry.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).

Pay Range
$22.36/hour
