Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Nurse to join our team at Carilion Clinic. As an Interventional Radiology Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in all areas of the Radiology/Imaging department. You will assess patient conditions, take immediate action in emergency situations, and provide individualized care for patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes.
  • Complete focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation in a timely manner.
  • Respond to patient care needs before, during, and after procedures, including assessment of condition, cardiac arrest, and intravenous problems.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, patient, and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Follow established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist, invasive cardiologist, or intravascular surgeon.
  • Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems.
  • Identify and address patient/family educational needs in a timely manner, incorporating them into the plan of care and documenting appropriately.
  • Determine and perform within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support evidenced-based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.
  • Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turn-around time, resource consumption, and improve patient outcomes.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks, demonstrating flexibility with scheduling and prioritizing competing needs.
  • Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frames and according to pre-established guidelines.
  • Take an active role in the orientation of new employees.
  • Provide feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.
  • Participate in unit, hospital, and/or system activities to facilitate staff participation/input in decision-making.
  • Assist with providing education activities for the unit/department.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Critical care experience preferred; radiology experience preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • AHA ACLS, PALS, and AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
  • Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems.
