Community Relations Specialist

Your ImpactIn this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement strategic outreach methods, assisting local businesses with talent acquisition. You will serve as a liaison for establishing and cultivating relationships with participants, employers, and community agencies. Your primary objectives will include coordinating and overseeing activities and services related to the Work Experience Program component, evaluating compliance with policies and procedures, and ensuring adherence to contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate a quality work experience program for participants.
- Manage and conduct analysis of work experience activities to ensure implementation of policies and procedures.
- Accurately review, enter, and complete WEX Timesheets into the DWFS Timesheet Management system.
- Communicate effectively with DWFS Corporate staff to follow the Corporate WEX review process, resolve paycheck and timesheet issues as needed.
- Coordinate timesheet pickup and paycheck distribution regionally.
- Procure Worksite Agreements from employers and obtain appropriate signatures for approval from DWFS staff.
- Ensure coordination of regional scheduling for New Hire Orientations for WEX participants.
- Ensure coordination of regional recruitment of participants when needed.
- Track outcomes and manage contractual goals related to the Work Experience Program.
- Obtain and review performance evaluations provided by employers and take appropriate actions when needed.
- Assure data entry is accurate and completed.
- Assure case notes are entered per the prescribed local policy.
- Review timesheets and data for trends; provide programmatic guidance for identified areas of non-compliance or low performance.
- Review operational procedures and processes; provide programmatic assistance to improve performance and quality, make recommendations to enhance current procedures to ensure compliance and performance goals.
- Ensure that customer files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of market research tools and trends within the industry and/or sector to appropriately guide and direct career seekers.
- Conduct outreach presentations as needed to a wide range of audiences.
- Identify, develop, and implement strategic outreach and recruitment opportunities to ensure appropriate quality and quantity of talent is available to meet employer needs.
- Connect career seekers to applicable open positions to result in long-term employment.
- Connect career seekers to opportunities for training and development as well as any other career center services they may qualify for.
- Assist in all aspects of talent acquisition for local businesses, including screening and assessing candidates for technical and soft skills to assess suitability and fit for assigned positions.
- Assist individuals with the understanding and completion of program enrollment.
- Conduct eligibility assessments as applicable.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or equivalent experience, preferably in implementation or interpretation of policies and procedures and/or workforce development.
- At least 1 year of experience building business relationships or at least 1 year of related workforce development experience.
- Strong computer skills, with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, or through electronic means.
- Ability to make effective speeches and presentations to public groups and/or staff.
