Salary and Benefits

">

The starting compensation for this role based in Rochester is between $50,000 to $64,700 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including three weeks paid vacation time, sick time, and school breaks.

Job Description

">

As a Special Education Instructional Leader at Uncommon Schools, you will be responsible for developing and implementing specialized instruction and related services to support students with special needs. You will work closely with general education teachers, school leaders, and families to ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruction">
  • You will modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes diversity and promotes student growth and achievement.">
  • You will collaborate with families and special education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that provide appropriate accommodations and modifications.">
  • You will create an inclusive and safe learning environment where students feel empowered to become self-guided learners.">
  • Special Education Specific Responsibilities">
  • You will analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments, ensuring compliance with IEPs and promoting student progress.">
  • You will gather academic growth data and write goals to prepare for annual IEP meetings.">
  • You will teach pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction, implementing strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom.">

  • You will partner with students' families to ensure access to resources and support their child's learning needs.">
  • You will engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.">
  • You will participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model core values, and encourage student achievement.">
  • You will collaborate with your grade level team to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.">

  • Required Experience: A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred). Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields of study.">
