Job Summary

The Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist plays a vital role in BestCare Treatment Services' crisis response team, working alongside a QMHP to provide mobile crisis response, risk assessment, and crisis stabilization planning for adults and children in the County.

This position requires a unique blend of skills, including crisis intervention, risk assessment, and support planning, as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals in crisis and provide support.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provides crisis and risk assessment and intervention services in support of BestCare's mobile crisis response, including after hours, under the direction of QMHP.
  2. Provides immediate mobile response to individuals experiencing mental health crises in Crook County, gathering information necessary to identify and assess risk factors for harm to self or others.
  3. Assesses for personal safety in the environment and requests law enforcement support as appropriate, providing information and facilitating linkage to mental health treatment and other social services.
  4. Documents and maintains electronic health records in a manner that assures compliance with all agency policies, program procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  5. Collaborates effectively with other team members and community partners, providing case consultation and staying in communication with other MH providers.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet the Oregon Administrative Rules definition of a peer, including holding a Peer Support Specialist Certification from a State-approved training program.
  • Valid Driver's license and appropriate auto insurance required.
  • Experience working with mental illness and substance abusing population and people with disabilities preferred.

The employee must be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and maintain professional boundaries and ethics.
