Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in our 5S Medical/Surgical Geriatric/Pediatric Care Unit. As a direct care staff member, you will be responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care, meeting the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care. You will communicate effectively with patients and families, providing care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor continuous cardiac rhythm patterns and analyze and interpret cardiac rhythms, communicating variances to the physician, charge nurse, and/or registered nurse.
- Provide clerical support, including answering telephones, entering physician orders, maintaining patient records, and conducting 24-hour chart checks.
- Maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing, and hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
- Communicate with physicians and team members regarding changes in the patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or responses to treatment.
- Perform general nursing duties in all departments under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must commit to enrolling in an RN program within two years of hire date and obtaining RN licensure within five years of hire date.
Shift and Hours
Rotating 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
