Job Summary

This role will provide day-to-day monitoring and basic plant and pump/booster station operations, lab tests, and corrective, predictive, and preventative maintenance activities. The successful candidate will be fully qualified to perform complex functions and may lead the work of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment manually and through instrumentation panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units following process control procedures.
  • Monitor and observe operating conditions, record observations and data in shift logs, diagnose basic operational problems, and take corrective action per procedure.
  • Inspect and perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic troubleshooting to determine repairs needed, estimate time and material costs for assigned projects, and fabricate devices and assemblies from steel.
  • Dismantle equipment to gain access to and repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing devices.
  • Reassemble and test equipment ensuring safe and efficient operating conditions are restored.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions).
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • At least five years of experience in a related position in a similar environment with the ability to comprehend complex specifications, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific facility-required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.
  • The ability to diagnose and respond to problems regardless of complexity, troubleshoot mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment and instrumentation, and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with precision measuring devices and testing equipment and the ability to perform all assigned lab tests regardless of complexity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs for process control, Computer Maintenance Management System, and laboratory/industrial pretreatment QA/QC.

Salary and Location

The estimated salary for this role is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. The location of this position is in Boston, Massachusetts.
