The Physical Therapy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patients' needs related to mobility, pain management, function restoration, and disability prevention. Based on the assessment and evaluation performed by the PT, you will ensure that the treatment plan is followed, implement interventions to enhance patients' wellbeing, and evaluate progress.

Your key responsibilities as a Physical Therapy Assistant will include:

  • Providing services defined by state laws governing the practice of a Physical Therapy Assistant, in accordance with the plan of care and in coordination with other healthcare team members.
  • Assisting patients in using therapeutic, creative, and self-care activities to improve functioning and safety.
  • Observing, recording, and reporting patients' responses to treatment and changes in their condition.
  • Instructing patients, families, caregivers, and the healthcare team in areas of therapy where they can participate in assisting the patient.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A physical therapy assistant license and registration by the state.
  • Completion of a physical therapy assistant curriculum approved by The American Physical Therapy Association, The Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, or The Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association.
  • Ability and enthusiasm in working with patients of all ages.

An estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $60,000 to $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
