Key Responsibilities:

As a Commercial Lines Underwriter at Burns & Wilcox, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and growing a book of business. This will involve managing agency relationships and serving as the lead client contact. You will also create and execute marketing plans to increase new and renewal business. Additionally, you will rate, quote, and bind each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for large or complex renewals as well as new business. Furthermore, you will develop and submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and Burns & Wilcox management. You will also monitor key metrics to formulate corrective action impacting new business hit, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio. Finally, you will lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A minimum of 3 years of commercial lines underwriting experience is also required, with excess & surplus experience being preferred. You should have demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing, as well as proven organization skills and a strong attention to detail. An interest in continued education and professional development is also essential. An insurance license, CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations are preferred.
