Professor of Science Education Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Professor of Science Education at Utah Tech University. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position specializing in Elementary Science Education. The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated educators who share a passion for preparing students to become outstanding teachers in diverse and changing communities.
Responsibilities:
- • Teach specialized pedagogy classes in science methods.• Teach general pedagogy courses for the Elementary Education program.• Teach lower division education courses.• Assist in the development of new curriculum and programs.• Assist in meeting requirements of national accreditation, as well as state licensure standards.• Work with the local school district personnel to ensure the UT Elementary Education program successfully prepares students to teach at the elementary level.• Supervise and mentor students in field experience settings.• Fulfill faculty responsibilities including holding office hours, advising students, attending faculty and other University meetings, and serving on university, college, and department committees.
Qualifications:
- • Doctorate degree in Teacher Education, Elementary Education, or related field required.• Documented expertise in science content and pedagogy is required; additional expertise in health and physical education methods helpful.• Minimum of three (3) years' experience teaching students in grades K-8.• Demonstrated ability in successful instructional coaching.• Finalists will be required to demonstrate competence through a teaching demonstration.• Demonstrated ability and interest in creative, unique, and effective approaches to teacher education.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing.• Good organizational and time management skills.• Candidates must have excellent knowledge and skills with technology, including online instruction.
Benefits:
This position comes with an annual salary range of $60,000 - $64,000, depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching. Excellent benefits package included that begins on start date, which includes medical, dental, vision, employee assistance and wellness programs, life, disability, retirement, and undergraduate tuition waivers for employees and eligible dependents.
