Medical Documenter

The role of a Medical Documenter at VA Ear Nose Throat Associates requires strong attention to detail and excellent typing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document the physician's office notes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Listen carefully to the physician's conversation/dictation of visit with the patient and record the office visit quickly and efficiently.
- Transcribe provider's encounter with patients in Electronic Medical Record system, including history of present illness, general history (medical, family, social), review of symptoms, physical exam, and imaging test results.
- Document the provider's assessment and plan and assist in coordinating patient's treatment plan, such as electronic prescriptions and referrals.
- Navigate the Electronic Medical Record and pertinent electronic applications, including point-of-care tests, lab results, and ultrasound images.
- Summarize complex medical information in a clear, complete, and concise manner in order to generate professional, polished writing at a high rate of production.
- Optimize work-flow efficiencies and provider documentation in real-time.
- Facilitate the efficient flow of patients, allowing providers to focus on patient care.
- Attend required meetings.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- BASIC MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE AND ENT KNOWLEDGE ARE PREFERRED.
- Good listening and typing skills are essential.
- Experience with Allscripts or Electronic Medical Records is preferred.
Work Environment:
- This position is a combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.
- The workspace is well-lighted, well-ventilated, and has adequate space.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to clinic setting may occur.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- This role requires standing for 6-8 hours a day.
- The ability to view a computer screen for an extended period of time is necessary.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier, and other equipment is required.
Salary Information:
The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, based on location and experience.
