We are seeking an experienced Metalworking Die Specialist to join our team at Matcor Automotive Michigan Inc.

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description

As a Metalworking Die Specialist, you will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to fabricated and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.

  • Troubleshoot and repair progressive, blank, and transfer dies.
  • Machining, grinding, and fitting punches and details through knowledge of tooling, machining, and die functions.
  • Disassembling dies, inspecting, welding, repairing, grinding, and fitting details into dies.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing dies in the press room.
  • Repairing damaged details, sharpening, aligning, and timing dies while in press.
  • Occasionally adjusting die set-up, pilot releases, timing, and feed mechanisms.

This role requires a strong understanding of steels, coatings, and materials. The ideal candidate will be able to work with complicated drawings and diagrams and possess the ability to develop construction details for complex progressive and transfer dies.
