Job Summary

The Service Technician is a key member of our team at Island Pump & Tank, responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our service station facilities. This role involves providing training and guidance to our Service Helpers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of service station facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform troubleshooting and repairs on fuel dispensers, pumps, underground storage tanks, POS Consoles, and other equipment as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute preventative maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and system calibration to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Service Calls: Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, providing timely and effective solutions to our customers.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and service histories to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with station managers and maintenance teams to prioritize maintenance tasks and coordinate repair schedules, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards, protocols, and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for our team and customers.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and report on inventory levels of spare parts and supplies needed for maintenance activities, ensuring timely replenishment and minimizing downtime.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to station staff on proper equipment operation, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 4-6 years of related experience in distributed services, including candidates with experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, or cable servicing.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in petroleum services is highly desirable, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Certifications: OSHA certification is highly desirable, demonstrating a commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent education required, with technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or electrical systems preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physical Demands: Capable of lifting/moving materials greater than 50 pounds and climbing ladders, with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
