Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical intake and document patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare patients for exams, treatments, or procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians or providers, maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding their condition and ongoing care, promoting health literacy and empowerment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care, addressing teaching issues and consulting on patient care.
  • Complete medical record documentation and assist physicians in maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Maintain supplies and reorder as necessary, ensuring a well-stocked and organized work environment.
  • Respond to patient and physician inquiries, resolving complaints and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Report STDs, communicable diseases, and other relevant information to appropriate agencies, upholding public health standards.
  • Assist in quality assurance checks, ensuring adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and orderly clinic environment, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Understand and adhere to budgetary guidelines, ensuring responsible financial management.
  • Follow established safety guidelines for working in the Medical Laboratory, prioritizing patient and staff safety.
  • Perform phlebotomy, intravenous therapy, blood glucose monitoring, and lab procedures, maintaining accurate records and adhering to protocols.
  • May perform and document preventive maintenance for equipment and instrumentation, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • May investigate deviations from expected results or instrument performance, taking corrective action as directed by laboratory procedure.
  • May receive, process, and perform Proficiency Test samples, maintaining accurate records and adhering to established protocols.
  • Assist providers and patients with translation as needed during office or telehealth visits, promoting effective communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the success of our organization.
Qualifications
  • High school or general education diploma (GED) and graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program required.
  • Two years of related experience in a hospital, clinical setting, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and analyze medical documents, translate between providers and patients, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners in the State of Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel applications, and electronic health records.

Must be able to drive and have access to a car, maintain a valid driver's license, and auto liability insurance.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to a medical office environment having direct contact with patients.

Position necessitates bending, stooping, twisting, turning, walking, climbing step stools, sitting, and standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and maneuver 25 pounds.
