Role Summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a seasoned Radiation Effects Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Space Systems division, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex electronic products to ensure their operational capability in space environments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiation effects analysis, shielding, and survivability. You will work closely with our engineering teams to develop and implement radiation mitigation strategies, ensuring the reliability and performance of our spacecraft systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform radiation effects analysis and shielding design for electronic components and systems
  • Develop and implement radiation mitigation strategies to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and develop radiation-hardened electronic components and systems
  • Conduct radiation testing and analysis to validate system performance
  • Develop and maintain radiation analysis tools and methodologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or closely related field
  • 12+ years of experience in radiation effects engineering, with a focus on space systems
  • Strong background in radiation effects analysis, shielding, and survivability
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • U.S. citizenship with active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or closely related field
  • Experience with radiation analysis tools such as NOVICE, AE9/AP9, CRÈME, and SPENVIS
  • CAD modeling experience with Creo Parametric
