Job Overview

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Credit Management Professional to join our team in Plymouth, MN. As Regional Credit Manager, you will have credit management and collections responsibilities for a portfolio of DSG branches. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical and customer service skills to drive credit performance and mitigate risk.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating creditworthiness, establishing credit lines and payment terms, account collections, and reserve analysis for assigned customer accounts
  • Maintaining knowledge of credit risk management methods and ensuring their utilization when appropriate
  • Negotiating past-due account actions, coordinating collection efforts with agencies, working with outside counsel to file legal claims, and obtaining judgments
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships across the organization and within supported branches, communicating proactively, and conveying difficult messages when needed
  • Providing excellent customer service while collecting balances due
  • Analyzing the credit portfolio and making recommendations to management regarding bad debt reserves
  • Contributing to developing and documenting credit and collection policies and procedures
  • Identifying control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement and providing recommendations for corrective actions
  • Supporting state and local sales tax audits

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience managing credit for small to large customers, preferably in a distribution environment
  • Experience with construction industry credit and working knowledge of mechanic's lien laws
  • Strong business acumen in credit risk management, industry practices, and emerging trends
  • Advanced knowledge of credit laws/regulations, such as Truth in Lending, Fair Credit Reporting, and Fair Debt Collection Practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, working collaboratively across all levels of the organization
  • Strong system aptitude, fast learner, able to navigate systems and combine formal training with self-learning
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and manage competing priorities
  • Sound judgment and critical thinking skills, with ability to see the 'big picture' when making decisions
