Job Title: Human Resources Bureau Chief

The Montana Department of Corrections is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Bureau Chief to lead the development and implementation of human resources strategies and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources, labor relations, and business management, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement human resources strategies and initiatives to support the department's mission and goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to department managers and supervisors on human resources-related matters.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate labor relations activities, including collective bargaining and grievance resolution.
  • Develop and manage the department's human resources budget.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Administration/Management, Business Administration/Management, Organizational Development, Communication, Psychology, or related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience administering human resources.
  • Three years of human resources supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree and professional certification as an HCI PHR or SPHR or SHRM-CP or SCP preferred.
  • Labor relations (union and collective bargaining) experience preferred.
