CommuniCare Health Services is a leading provider of long-term care solutions with a presence in six states across the country. Our healthcare network comprises over 130 skilled nursing facilities, five behavioral health hospitals, three substance abuse treatment centers, outpatient behavioral health services, and a transportation company.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Director of Facilities and Operations Management.

This key leadership role reports directly to the Vice President for Construction and Facilities/Plant Operations and requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead and develop a team of project managers and department staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing departments within Real Estate and Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Planning, and Real Estate Management.

This includes assisting in creating and implementing operational standards and procedures to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient facility operations across all properties.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • The position must be based in proximity to our main areas of operation (Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, or Maryland) and will require regular travel to ensure oversight of all facilities and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and development of long-term facility initiatives across all locations.
  • Providing professional guidance to Real Estate and Facilities teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing Environmental Health & Safety standards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Directing the Facilities Management team in maintaining operational excellence for all mechanical, electrical, and structural components.
  • Collaborating with Planning, Design & Construction to manage project timelines, budgets, and quality outcomes.
  • Coordinating real estate management activities, including property acquisitions, leases, and other real estate-related agreements.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant construction permitting, workplace safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Managing departmental budgets and fiscal planning to support cost-effective operations and strategic investments.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate or facilities management within a long-term care/nursing home setting, including at least 3 years in a director role.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • An in-depth understanding of facility construction, mechanical and electrical systems, and operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Experience with applicable building codes and renewal costs for aging infrastructure.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of life safety, infection control, workplace safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Budgeting and Fiscal Management: Proven ability to prepare and manage departmental budgets effectively, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic objectives.

Salary Range:$120,000 - $160,000 per annum
