Vet Assistant

Saugus Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing excellent patient care and exceptional customer service.

Job Summary:

The Veterinary Technician will assist our veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This will include preparing patients for exams and procedures, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical treatments. The Veterinary Technician will also communicate with clients to provide information and answer questions about their pets' care.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures
  • Take vital signs, such as temperature and heart rate
  • Assist with medical treatments, such as injections and medication administration
• Client Communication:
  • Communicate with clients to provide information and answer questions about their pets' care
  • Discuss treatment options and answer questions
• Lab and Imaging Procedures:
  • Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalyses and blood counts
  • Take radiographs (x-rays) and perform other imaging procedures
• Surgical Assistance:
  • Assist with surgical procedures, such as preparing patients and maintaining asepsis
• Other Duties:
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support the veterinary team

Requirements:

• Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Certificate or associate's degree in veterinary technology preferred
• Experience:
  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting preferred
• Certifications:
  • Certificate as a veterinary technician or assistant required

Working Conditions:

The Veterinary Technician will work in a fast-paced animal hospital environment. The position requires standing, walking, and lifting patients. The Veterinary Technician will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to zoonotic diseases.
