Strategic Program Director for Military Medicine Initiatives

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Program Director to oversee a collection of related/integrated projects supporting a long-term research initiative at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. This position will strategically guide one or more project managers and technical staff to ensure effective progress towards program objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between internal and external stakeholders, including Principal Investigators, Program Sponsors, organizational leadership, laboratory managers, and project leaders.
  • Initiate, execute, and monitor program actions, including budgeting, purchasing, and hiring activities.
  • Manage key program elements, such as the statement of work, budget, and budget justification for grant sub-awards.
  • Supervise lower-level program members and be responsible for their hiring.
  • Prepare proposals in response to specific requests for proposals (RFPs) from various entities.
  • Provide advice on manpower utilization, workflow, and operational procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of federal budget processes and fundamental principles of project management.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing, build and maintain teams, and identify and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of software, including Microsoft Office, proposal/project tracking, and data analysis software.

Benefits and Salary

This is an exempt position with an estimated salary range of $110,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include a comprehensive health insurance package, retirement plan, and paid time off.
