Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Manager to lead our team at Woodlawn Medical Center in Maryland. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring care of patients in the assigned clinical area, ensuring that high-quality patient outcomes are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and monitor care of patients in the assigned clinical area
- Assist the manager with making monthly staffing schedules and day-to-day work assignments
- Assess workloads and make special assignments during peak and slow periods
- Call in staff to meet minimum staffing requirements and coordinate with other clinical teams to cover staff shortages
- Handle difficult and problematic work situations, including resolving member issues and escalating to management as needed
- Serve as a resource for other staff members by answering questions, orienting new staff, and identifying staff needs for training
- Perform special projects as assigned by the manager
- Routinely provide feedback to manager for staff performance, work habits, and barriers to efficient, high-quality work
- Assist with the development and revision of department policies and procedures
- Provide input into day-to-day operational issues that may support the hiring, evaluation, and termination of staff decisions
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum six months experience providing peritoneal dialysis self-care training
- Minimum one year of current experience in HMO or ambulatory setting
- Minimum one year experience in nursing care of the patient on home maintenance peritoneal dialysis or in nursing care of the end stage renal patient
- Bachelors degree in nursing
- Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire OR Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
