Role Summary

nLIGHT is in search of a seasoned Logistics Manager to spearhead and guide the logistics and warehouse team through periods of significant transformation as our business evolves. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the department meets its daily and monthly objectives while focusing on continuous enhancement through Lean methodologies. The Logistics Manager will collaborate closely with manufacturing, operations, engineering, and planning teams to guarantee that all organizational goals and revenue aspirations are fulfilled without being hindered by logistics constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Foster a safe working environment for all personnel; promote a culture of safety, assist in incident investigations, and engage in ergonomic assessments. Provide leadership through effective communication, mentoring, training, and professional development. Oversee employee performance management; inspire and facilitate ongoing learning and growth, conduct annual performance reviews, and deliver timely feedback and recognition. Monitor and authorize employee attendance records in compliance with applicable wage and hour regulations. Design, implement, and refine best practices to support the corporate warehousing, inventory management, and overall logistics strategy, including critical success metrics and reporting. Develop and manage all shipping operations, encompassing internal, domestic, and international logistics (both inbound and outbound), including customs, tariffs, and compliance with government regulations. Ensure accurate inventory distribution to production areas, maintaining inventory integrity through audits and cycle counts. Manage all carrier interactions for freight logistics, ensuring all shipping documentation is accurate and adheres to company policy. Negotiate carrier contracts and rates, manage transportation costs, and address any issues that arise. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within Logistics, focusing on process optimization, efficiency enhancement, cost reduction, and the implementation of improvement methodologies. Compile weekly and monthly performance metrics for reporting to senior management. Maintain operational instructions for departmental activities, including ongoing training for all staff. Provide support to all internal stakeholders, including manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and product development as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in logistics and warehousing. At least 2 years of supervisory experience. Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong communication and customer service skills; a collaborative team player. Ability to define, develop, and implement improvement strategies for personnel and key logistics processes. In-depth knowledge of inventory control systems, including cycle counting and physical inventory management. Experience collaborating with international partners, suppliers, and carriers, with a solid understanding of customs regulations. Capability to effectively engage with key stakeholders and represent nLIGHT with external partners. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems; experience with Microsoft D365 is preferred. Proven ability to lead and develop both local and remote teams while being a key collaborator with other business units. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Capability to stand and walk for long durations. Experience with forklift and material handling equipment is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in professional settings.
