Production Manager, Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex

The Production Manager at Harvard University's Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex is responsible for the safe and appropriate event, performance, and rehearsal use of the venues within the complex. This role participates in event planning, oversees house management and venues' theatrical systems, and supervises a team of permanent and temporary staff.
Key Responsibilities- Meet with building users to plan events, advising on full, safe, and appropriate use of the venues
- Review and approve the technical scope, feasibility, and timeline for proposed events
- Prepare or approve CAD drawings for event-specific room arrangements
- Participate in the planning and logistical oversight of Commencement/Reunions activity in the Complex
- Plan and supervise the logistical and technical aspects of special events in the complex
- Establish and oversee House Management policies and procedures, including those addressing safety, customer service, crowd control, emergency response, patron comfort, and assistance for patrons and performers with disabilities
- Supervise the scheduling and coordination of equipment load-ins, set-ups, strikes, and load-outs, table moves, piano moves and tunings, parking, security, and custodial coverage for events
- Train student event producers on safe and effective House Management procedures
- Oversee event producers and their vendors on safe and efficient use of the space
- Supervise payroll processes for staff
- Operate, maintain, and plan upgrades for theatrical systems
- Train student producers on technical theatre requirements for their events as well as use of equipment
- Act as audio/video technical information resource for special projects
- Administer a $200K sub-department budget for equipment, services, and non-permanent personnel
- Track, reconcile, and submit bills, invoices, and special event expenses
- Coordinate summer programs, renting space at the complex, advising on policies and practices, and coordinating with other departments on campus
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in production management
- Experience with direct supervision
- Ability to lead a team with strong supervisory skills
- Experience operating and maintaining theatrical lighting, sound, video, and basic rigging equipment
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in event planning and execution preferred
- Knowledge of entertainment/technical theater industry standard, local, state, and national crowd control and technical theater safety codes and applications
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and computer-aided drafting software
- Availability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays
