Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer Position Description

Stealth Communications is a leading developer of space-based systems, and we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer to join our team in Honolulu, HI.

This role involves developing and maintaining technical budgets, defining system requirements, planning and executing tests, and managing the overall systems engineering process. Additionally, engineers will work hands-on with flight hardware and drive the technical development of our Space Systems missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and Verify System Requirements: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration and alignment with overall mission goals.
  • Develop and Maintain Technical Budgets: Plan, execute, and analyze test methods and data.
  • Conduct Simulations and Analyses: Assist with program and product management.
  • Lead and Manage Technical Development: Collaborate on interface specifications, CONOPS definitions, and other design documents.
  • Plan, Execute, and Analyze Tests: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Technical Risks: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Develop and Execute Integration and Verification Plans: Prepare and present technical reports and documentation to stakeholders.
  • Manage Vendor and Supplier Relationships: Ensure quality and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Must possess an active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government-issued security clearance before starting.
  • Minimum of 13 Years of Engineering Experience: In the aerospace industry.
  • PhD in Software, Computer, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Other Relevant Engineering Disciplines: Experience in supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • Comprehensive Understanding: Of spacecraft subsystems and components, including attitude determination and control (ADCS), electrical power systems (EPS), space-ground communications, on-orbit command and data handling (C&DH), and thermal control.
  • In-Depth Knowledge: Of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Proficiency: In Assembly, C++, MATLAB, Python, and STK.
  • Experience: With requirement management tools such as Cameo, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Experience: With satellite operations.
  • Familiarity: With testing electrical subsystems and assemblies, thermal vacuum or random vibration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: And the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Both verbal and written.
  • Ability to Work Effectively: In a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Specific Vision Abilities: Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Regularly Required to: Sit, use hands and fingers, operate a computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to Travel: To support business needs.
  • Occasional Exposure: To dust, fumes, and moderate noise levels.
  • Demonstrated Ability to Lead: And manage complex technical projects.
  • Experience with Project Management Tools: And methodologies.
  • Capable of Independent Work: And collaboration within a diverse and multidisciplinary team, including scientists, engineers, business professionals, and ex-military personnel.
