Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Benefits Administrator to join our team at the City of Gainesville, GA. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for administering our comprehensive benefits program, ensuring that our employees receive the best possible support and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the administration of our benefits program, including health, pharmacy, vision, dental, life insurance, flexible spending, health savings, wellness incentive, workplace products, retirement, and short and long-term disability benefits.
  • Perform various clerical support tasks related to benefits administration, including maintaining accurate database records and compiling City census data.
  • Assist employees with benefits elections and process coverage for new hires and mid-year changes.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, benefit carriers, and service providers, providing information on benefits, coverage, and claim payment processes.
  • Work closely with benefit carriers and vendors to ensure proper coverages are set up and electronic file processing is completed accurately.
  • Assist with annual Open Enrollment activities, including updating employee benefits guides, communicating with employees, and processing elections.
  • Maintain employee benefits files and reconcile deduction registers and vendor benefit billings.
  • Conduct audits of current and terminated employee payroll records to ensure proper deductions are taken for benefits.
  • Collect data, prepare reports, and file PCORI annually.
  • Provide assistance to HR staff as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Six years progressive experience in employee benefits and/or payroll administration.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of benefits legislation, including HIPAA, USERRA, ADA, COBRA, and FMLA.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or other specialized certification or designation desirable.
