We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Professional to join our Community Treatment Team (CTT) Program at North Suffolk Community Services Inc.

About the Role

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide direct support and connection to individuals in community settings. Your role will focus on promoting self-determination and overall well-being through personal recovery experiences and supportive relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Building Trust and Mutuality: Share your personal recovery experiences with purpose and intent to build trust, create mutuality, and support self-determination.
  • Supporting Life Transitions: Provide assistance during life and care transitions, including hospital visits and restrictive setting connections.
  • Skill-Building and Group Facilitation: Co-facilitate skill-building groups that foster natural connections among individuals, build capacity, and emphasize quality of life activities and community membership.
  • Professional Development: Participate in required skill trainings and seek continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge base.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Hold a High School Diploma/GED equivalent or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Identify as having Lived Experience of a Mental Health Diagnosis, Substance Use Addiction, Extreme States, or Trauma that has caused significant life disruption.
  • Be willing to share your experiences and possess a desire to support others.
