Job Summary

This position is located in the Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The incumbent will provide support to Revenue Agents in the examination of tax returns and/or the investigation of alleged tax fraud.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Revenue Agents in the examination of tax returns and/or the investigation of alleged tax fraud.
  • Conduct research and analysis of taxpayer information using automated systems and other resources.
  • Prepare and assemble work papers, schedules, and exhibits to support the examination or investigation.
  • Communicate with taxpayers and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on the examination or investigation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisory Internal Revenue Agent.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in tax examination or a related field.
  • Experience using automated systems and other resources to conduct research and analysis of taxpayer information.
  • Experience preparing and assembling work papers, schedules, and exhibits to support the examination or investigation.
  • Experience communicating with taxpayers and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on the examination or investigation.
Working Conditions

The work is performed in a office setting with occasional travel to taxpayer locations. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
