Ophthalmic Care Coordinator

Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston is a renowned eye care provider offering patients the highest quality care and treatment. With 19 practice locations in the greater Boston area, South Shore, and Cape Cod, we strive to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
The Ophthalmic Assistant plays a vital role in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care under the direct supervision of the department supervisor. This entry-level position involves assisting physicians in gathering patient data and maintaining a clinical environment. Key responsibilities include conducting visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, auto refractometry, refractometry, pupil assessment, extraocular motility, gross external examination, applanation tonometry, tonopen, eye drop instillation, diagnostic testing, and participating in patient care within a clinical setting. Additionally, the technician maintains patient medical records, ensuring efficient workflow and organization.
As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will have the opportunity to participate in employer-sponsored training and continuing education, aiming to become certified by JCAHPO as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 24 months from hire date.
We offer a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, our benefits package includes medical & dental insurance, 401(k) plan with Company match, Company-paid Life Insurance, Company-paid Long Term Disability, Eye care discounts, Generous Paid Time Off, and Paid Holidays.
To succeed in this role, you should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. While prior experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant is not required, you should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong math and science skills. Proficiency in computer and data entry skills is also essential. Our ideal candidate will have a general understanding of anatomy and physiology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
