Job Summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a dedicated Youth Development Lead to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the well-being and development of children ages 6 weeks to 7 years, while their parents utilize our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children.
  • Assist and support the supervision of the Child Watch program under the direction of the Program Director.
  • Foster a quality experience focused on YMCA core values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
About the Role

This is a part-time position, working up to 25 hours per week at our Mel Korum Family YMCA location in Puyallup, WA.

Requirements:
  • A high school graduate or equivalent (preferably).
  • One year or more of related experience (preferably).
  • Prior experience working with children of all ages, preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in program activities and related office equipment, with the ability to instruct youth classes in sports, games, and activities.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills needed to support youth staff and classes.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
  • Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day and other online or in-person training as required.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $16.54 to $18.28 per hour, depending on qualifications.
