Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program

Catholic Medical Center, in partnership with the Community College System of New Hampshire, has developed a comprehensive medical assistant apprenticeship program. This unique opportunity combines classroom instruction with hands-on training and on-the-job experience, preparing candidates for a rewarding career in healthcare.
Key Program Components:
- A 10-week Medical Assistant Certificate program at Manchester Community College, covering 320 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on lab experiences.
- A 4-week practicum within CMC's Primary Care or specialty medical office practices, providing real-world experience and exposure to various medical settings.
- Preparation and eligibility to sit for the National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.
- Placement into a full-time open Medical Assistant position in either a CMC Primary Care or specialty care medical office, with a designated mentor for on-the-job training and support.
- A progressive pay wage as milestones are met throughout the program, with a National Occupational Credential through the Department of Labor upon completion of 3,600 hours of on-the-job training.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Assist providers in administering patient care, including patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes, all in accordance with DNV, CLIA, NCQA, and government standards.
- Perform general administrative duties, including reviewing charts, obtaining and recording patient vital signs, and directing patients to examination rooms.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Meet the qualifications outlined below, including a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and CMA certification (obtained during or after the practicum hours).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification prior to beginning practicum hours.
- CMA certification (obtained during or after practicum hours).
- Must successfully complete DOT Hazardous Materials training within 90 days of start date and recertify every 3 years.
