Histotechnologist Position: Tissue Specimen Preparation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at Brown University Health - Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologists to provide diagnostic information on diseases.
- Process and prepare specimens for routine and non-routine procedures, including embedding in paraffin blocks, sectioning with a rotary microtome, and staining with chemical solutions.
- Identify and select techniques to process unusual or delicate specimens, perform special staining, or rush procedures as requested by managers or pathologists.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining laboratory quality control standards, performing gross and microscopic examinations of prepared histologic slides.
- Associate's degree in applied science or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA standards.
- National certification (or eligible) in Histology by ASCP or equivalent.
- Experience in clinical histology laboratories, familiarity with a wide range of histologic specimens and procedures.
- Knowledge of histochemistry and various techniques for preparing and processing tissue specimens.
- Estimated Salary: $24.73 - $34.95 per hour based on location and experience.
