My Pet's Vet in Florence, Kentucky is seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team at our new animal hospital. As a Vet Assistant with us, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced veterinary technicians and doctors to provide exceptional care to our furry patients.

Job Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Taking great care of our patients by providing them with a safe and comfortable environment
  • Restraint of patients during procedures to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Cleaning kennels, exam rooms, and treatment tables to maintain a clean and hygienic environment
  • Running and setting up lab tests to help diagnose and treat our patients
  • Setting up and cleaning up before and after surgery to ensure a smooth process
  • Unloading inventory to keep our hospital stocked with essential supplies
  • Assisting in taking digital x-rays to help diagnose our patients
  • Working closely with our veterinary technicians and doctors to provide exceptional patient care
Qualifications and Skills

To be successful as a Veterinary Assistant, you will need to possess:

  • Excellent customer communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and provide them with excellent service
  • Motivation and passion for helping animals to deliver exceptional care
  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Experience using multiple-line telephone systems to communicate effectively
  • Excellent animal-handling skills to safely restrain and care for our patients
  • Ability to properly restrain patients to prevent injury or stress
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with our team members
  • Commitment to outstanding client service to exceed our customers' expectations
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance
