Physician (Emergency Medicine) GS-15 Position

This position is located at one of the various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office.
Key Responsibilities- Provides emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis to patients seen in the emergency room
- Makes appropriate referrals and obtains appropriate consultations after primary evaluation and documentation has been completed
- Recognizes and gives initial treatment of acute psychiatric problems
- Provides emergency medicine expertise and consultation in emergency medicine to providers at the facility/ies
- Serves as a committee member of the ER Committee, the Medical Staff Committee, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and on other committees
- Participates in the performance improvement program on a continuous basis and performs other duties as assigned
- Selectee may be subject to a probationary period
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
- This is a designated position covered by Public Law, requiring contact or control over Indian children
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required
- Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities
- COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting
- GS-15: 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training within the specialty area of Emergency Medicine
- Applicants applying in a specialty must meet one of the following as an approved agency-wide selective factor
- Board Certified in the Specialty to which the applicant is applying or Active Registrant of the Board in the Specialty to which the applicant is applying
