Salary Information

The base salary for this role ranges from $95,000 to $115,000 USD annually, reflecting the minimum and maximum intended target compensation for new hires in this position. The actual base salary offered will be influenced by factors such as experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the role.

Job Responsibilities

We're seeking a strategic and tactical Compensation and Payroll Manager to join our growing Finance team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for all aspects of payroll operations, including:

  • Oversight of multi-state domestic and international exempt and nonexempt employee payroll processing, including bi-weekly payroll and employee equity settlements.
  • Leadership and management of day-to-day global payroll activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax and relevant labor regulations.
  • Identification, recommendation, and implementation of best practices in payroll and payroll accounting to streamline payroll operations, systems, and procedures.
  • Preparation and filing of various tax forms, including Form 941 and W-2.
  • Preparation of payroll-related journal entries and assurance of accurate recording of payroll expense and accrued liabilities according to U.S. GAAP.
  • Monthly variance analysis on compensation expenses and balance sheet accounts, along with commentary explaining the variances.
  • Participation in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including completion of reconciliations, escalation and resolution of issues, and meeting associated deadlines.
  • Facilitation of audits by providing necessary records and documentation to auditors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • At least 5 years of progressive payroll experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including multi-state and international payroll.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience with booking and reconciling accrued payroll liabilities.
  • Proven experience with quarterly and year-end tax filings, funding of 401(k) and HSA accounts, and W-2 processing.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and an ability to prioritize in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a customer-focused approach and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
